Pilates is a unique system of strengthening and stretching the body, designed to improve one's posture and core strength by working with proper alignment, breathing, and placement.
You will encounter the following concepts in each Pilates session:
- The Core (the "cage" of strength encompassing the muscles in the lower abdominals, pelvis, low back, and diaphragm; also sometimes referred to as the "Powerhouse")
- Form (mindful movements)
- Relaxation (deep breath work helps encourage calmness and centering while working)
- Mind-Body Connection
- Flow-(the exercises have a fluidity to them; as well as flowing one into the next)
